When are the Sydney Stars going to be ready for training?
Updated November 12, 2018 04:18:48When are the NSW Blues going to have the Blues’ best players on the park?
That was the question being asked by some of the best players in the competition when they took to Twitter to share their thoughts on when the Blues would be ready to train.
The Blues have been struggling to get a run at the top of the ladder in recent years, having lost a number of players to retirement and having been knocked out of the finals series by a Melbourne side that had only one win.
The club’s top scorer in 2016-17, Josh Jenkins, has retired after the season and has not been seen since.
James Frawley has been released by the Blues after four seasons in charge.
The biggest concern for many is the lack of talent in the Blues backline, with some of their biggest names being on their way out.
One of those players is star-struck forward Ben Hunt.
The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Blues since joining from Geelong in 2016, and has already racked up 10 goals and 12 assists this season.
While some Blues fans were hopeful that he could be a key piece for them in the coming seasons, Hunt is now out of contract at the end of the season.
The question now is what is the Blues going be able to do to keep the likes of him on the field.
But while many were quick to blame the Blues for their poor form, it’s the club’s players who are now the ones taking a more aggressive approach to the issue.
The Club’s players have made it clear that they want to win and that they are not happy with how things are going, so the question is, what can the Blues do to change things?
It’s also important to note that the Blues have one of the most successful teams in the NRL, so how do they expect to cope without their top performers?
The Blues are currently in the final stage of a pre-season training camp in Perth, and have not been training at their training base in the Sunshine State since December.
The next step is for the players to meet with the Blues to discuss their options, and if the Blues are not able to get the players back to the club, then the Blues could potentially try to bring them back in.
The most likely option would be a one-year contract extension, and it’s been suggested that the club may consider a long-term deal.
If the Blues can bring in another star forward, that would mean the club would be left with only three forwards to play with at the start of the new season.
If that doesn’t happen, then some players might decide to look elsewhere.
The NRL’s season opens on Friday, and with the NRL having a busy calendar in the next few weeks, it may be the perfect time for the club to start preparing for the 2019 season.
