“Taken Down” director and co-writer talks “Penny Dreadful” reboot
After months of silence, director Sam Mendes is finally getting his big-screen revenge with a “Pineapple Express” reboot, his first for Fox.
Mendes’ latest film is a story of a young woman whose mother’s death led to the creation of a secret organization that will hunt down and eliminate all witches, spirits, and demons in order to protect mankind.
Mendels original script for the movie was turned into a live-action film, and he will direct the first chapter, which is scheduled for a November 2019 release.
“Piece of Me,” Mendes said.
“It’s not a fairy tale.
It’s about a family that’s going through something very similar to that, and what happens when you let that happen to your family.”
The movie is loosely based on the 1973 cult classic “Pillow Talk,” which was inspired by Mendes own experiences in the field of paranormal research.
He’s also been producing other films, including “The Witch,” which he helmed, and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which has garnered him acclaim and an Oscar nomination.
