‘Girls’ season 2 premiere: ‘This is what happens when you get married’
After a five-month break, the next season of ‘Girls,’ the series that brought together two of the best actresses in Hollywood and the worlds most famous stars, is set to begin this Saturday.
In a new interview with MTV News, cast members Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke talk about the process of making the new season.
The two shared that their first scene together was in “Mommie Dearest,” where they met and began a relationship.
“That was the first time we really really felt comfortable, and we were so comfortable, that we were like, We’re in this together,” Dunham said.
Dunham also explained that the showrunners wanted to make the transition to a second season so they could “make it really easy for everybody.”
“It’s so easy for me to have a little time off,” Dunham joked.
“It’s not a lot of time to be able to just relax,” Kirke added.
“And then to be so confident in each other and in each others stories, and then to have that kind of a moment of vulnerability, and to have the space to really, really tell them their story, and also just be able, like, be themselves.”
In addition to the new show, Dunham and Kirke have been working on a new movie, and the two have been on a road trip to promote the film.
“Moms” actress Sarah Paulson recently posted a photo of herself on Instagram with her new dog, which Kirke says has been a big help in the transition.
“The dog’s been really good, and has been really welcoming and loves us and is really happy with us,” Kirk said.
“She’s really, honestly, really cute.”
